Which Games Use 50mm Square Bases?
The 50mm square is for the models that anchor an army — too big for a 40mm, but still square-edged so they rank up with everything else:
- Kings of War – the base for the larger Large Infantry and Large Cavalry units alongside the 40mm.
- Warhammer Fantasy Battle – the classic size for the biggest monstrous infantry and mounted models.
- Warhammer: The Old World – used for larger monstrous models. Check your army list for the exact size on a given unit.
- The Ninth Age and other rank-and-file systems – wherever centerpiece models still need to form up in a line.
The classic beveled square profile gives your models a clean, professional appearance and works especially well for miniatures arranged in tightly packed ranks and formations.
Built for the Weight
Made from high-quality 3D printed PLA, Terrain Genesis bases are built with a solid, sturdy design that provides excellent rigidity. At 4mm high, the 50mm is a touch deeper in section than our 20mm to 40mm squares — that extra millimetre is what keeps a base this wide from flexing under a heavy metal or resin model. If you are mixing 50mm bases into a unit of smaller squares, expect a 1mm step.
Textured Tops for Easier Basing
Every base is printed with a textured top surface, giving glue, sand, flock and texture paste something to key into. Basing materials grip far more readily than they do on a smooth face, which matters all the more across a footprint this size, where scenic groundwork often does as much work as the model itself.
Glue-Free Magnet Holes
Every base also has a magnet hole printed directly into it, sized to hold a magnet on friction alone. No glue required — magnets snap in by hand, or tap home with a light touch from a plastic mallet. Both versions have the hole; the only difference is whether the magnets come in the box.
