Which Games Use 25mm Square Bases?
The 25mm square is the most widely used square base in the hobby, and the one size that spans both mass battle and roleplaying:
- Warhammer: The Old World – the current minimum infantry base size. When The Old World launched, the old 20mm infantry base was retired in favour of the 25mm square, so this is the size for new rank-and-file regiments.
- Kings of War – the standard base for Heavy Infantry units, ranking five models wide.
- Oathmark – built around 25mm square infantry bases from the outset.
- The Ninth Age – the community-run fantasy battle system, played with ranked square-based units.
- Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and other grid-based RPGs – a standard battle mat grid square is one inch, or 25.4mm, so a 25mm square base sits neatly inside a single grid square without overhanging into the next.

Textured Tops for Easier Basing
Every base is printed with a textured top surface, giving glue, sand, flock and texture paste something to key into. Basing materials grip far more readily than they do on a smooth face, so your groundwork goes on faster and stays put.
Glue-Free Magnet Holes
Every base also has a magnet hole printed directly into it, sized to hold a magnet on friction alone. No glue required — magnets snap in by hand, or tap home with a light touch from a plastic mallet. Both versions have the hole; the only difference is whether the magnets come in the box.

Multi-Basing a Regiment?
If you mount your infantry as ranked blocks rather than individually, our rectangular rank strips are built on this same 25mm grid. Because the bevel sits on the top edge and the footprint measures a true 25mm at the base, they rank flush against these squares in the same unit — and a single strip has one continuous beveled edge around the outside, so your groundwork flows unbroken across the whole rank instead of stopping at every model.
