Rectangular Bases for Cavalry, Chariots and Monsters
Rectangular bases in 25x50mm, 25x75mm, 25x100mm, 30x60mm, 60x40mm, 50x75mm, 50x100mm, 60x100mm and 100x150mm — the shapes rank-and-file wargames use for anything that isn't standard infantry.
Which size do I need?
- 25mm x 50mm – light and fast cavalry: warhounds, wolf riders, dire wolves and skeleton light horse. Unchanged in The Old World.
- 30mm x 60mm – heavy cavalry and knights. The Old World moved knights up from 25x50mm to this size, so it's the most common rebasing job for a returning army.
- 60mm x 40mm – the 25/28mm mounted element base for DBx, Field of Glory and ADLG, and for flying mounts such as Pegasus Knights in The Old World. Also searched as 40x60mm.
- 50mm x 75mm – large monstrous cavalry and big mounted characters.
- 50mm x 100mm – chariots.
- 60mm x 100mm – large monsters and war engines.
- 100mm x 150mm – the largest centerpiece models, dioramas and display work.
- 25mm x 75mm and 25mm x 100mm – a standard 25mm frontage with extra depth, for long models that still need to rank up beside your infantry.
Base sizes are assigned per unit in most rank-and-file systems, so check your unit entry before buying for a specific model. Playing Warhammer: The Old World? Our Old World base size guide sets out every size in the game, including the cavalry rule most guides get wrong.
Built the same way as our squares
Every base is 4mm high for rigidity across a long footprint, printed with a textured top surface so glue, sand and flock have something to key into, and has magnet holes printed directly into it that hold a magnet on friction alone — no glue required. Longer bases carry two or more holes so models sit flat rather than pivoting on a single point. Choose the With Magnets option to have magnets supplied, or fit your own.
