Which Games Use 20mm Square Bases?
The 20mm square is the classic rank-and-file infantry base of fantasy wargaming:
- Kings of War – the standard base for Infantry units. Models already on 20mm squares rank up five wide and drop straight into KoW formations.
- Warhammer Fantasy Battle – the infantry base that classic armies were built on for decades, so it remains the size of choice for legacy collections and older editions.
- The Ninth Age – the community-run fantasy battle system, played with ranked square-based units.
- Rank-and-file and homebrew systems – any game built around a 20mm infantry frontage.
One note for Warhammer: The Old World players: when The Old World launched, the 20mm infantry base was retired and the minimum infantry size became 25mm square. If you are building for current Old World rules, our 25mm Beveled Square Bases are the size you want. Many players keep their existing 20mm armies and make up the footprint with a movement tray instead of rebasing every model.

Textured Tops for Easier Basing
Every base is printed with a textured top surface, giving glue, sand, flock and texture paste something to key into. Basing materials grip far more readily than they do on a smooth face, so your groundwork goes on faster and stays put.
Glue-Free Magnet Holes
Every base also has a magnet hole printed directly into it, sized to hold a magnet on friction alone. No glue required — magnets snap in by hand, or tap home with a light touch from a plastic mallet. Both versions have the hole; the only difference is whether the magnets come in the box.
