Movement Tray Questions

Which base size do I need?

Measure one base across rather than going by the model's scale. A miniature sold as 28mm scale may sit on a 25mm or a 32mm round, so the number on the box is not a reliable guide. Once you know the diameter, go straight to the matching collection: 25mm, 28mm or 32mm.

Do you make trays for square bases?

Yes. Our Aztec square movement trays are cut for square bases and suit rank and flank games such as Warhammer: The Old World and Kings of War, with more square base products planned. Everything else in the range is cut for round bases.

What does a movement tray actually do?

It lets you pick up and reposition a whole unit in one motion instead of moving models one at a time. That saves time, keeps your spacing legal and stops you knocking over painted miniatures halfway through a turn.

How do I read a formation like 3x4x3?

Each number is one rank, front to back. A 3x4x3 tray holds ten models in ranks of three, four and three. A 5x4 tray holds nine, five in front and four behind. Straight rows rank up tightly, while cloud and staggered layouts keep a unit in coherency without lining it up like a parade ground.

What are the trays made from?

Our own trays are 3D printed in the USA in durable PLA, with a solid base and a low profile so your miniatures still look like they are standing on the table rather than on a plinth. The matte black finish is ready to paint if you want to match your basing. The Aztec square trays are printed to order in plastic and supplied unpainted.
